This presentation will highlight some new R&D initiatives that are leveraging consumer technologies for pipeline operations. GTI has developed a novel approach for using smart phones and tablet devices, cloud computing, and GIS to reduce the cost and improve the quality of field data collection. The integration of supporting technologies such as cameras, GPS, sensors and smart tags will also be presented.
Alicia Farag is responsible for the Data and Integrity Management program at GTI that includes distribution and transmission integrity management, automating field data collection, risk modeling, damage prevention, and GIS/GPS technologies. She is responsible for research activities from the concept stage through commercialization. Alicia is a member of AGA’s DTE committee as well as CGA’s R&D committee.
